The Benches

Designed as third implementation of Taburete Towers format the installation plays a role of a temporary monument commemorating the teachers of Yehudiya school who created the Ringenblum Archive that collected data describing life conditions in the Jewish Ghetto. As in previous two installations designed within the format (during Logrońo’s Concentrico Festival and Bangalore’s Bengaluru by Design) The Benches have a „double” life of a temporary monument first standing for 5 weeks on the axis of one of the remnants of urban grid of pre-war Jewish district (Nalewki street) and than, afer being dismantled by becoming a set of 45 bench-alike modules that will be distributed among public and turned into everyday furniture at homes of Warsawers. The installation contains nine lightbox-alike modules with bilingual information about the teachers and the Rememberance March taking place every July 22 to commemorate the liquidation of Warsaw Ghetto. All „benches” were built with use of waaterproof plywood, each one is branded with a description of the project and the occasion.
